“Light Will Overcome Darkness” is an illustration from the wordless book “Yellow Butterfly” by Ukrainian artist Oleksandr Shatokhin. The yellow butterflies symbolize peace, faith in the future, faith in victory, faith in freedom, and faith in Ukraine and its people, who do extraordinary things every day simply to keep living.
The back cover of the book features words by the renowned Ukrainian writer Lesia Ukrainka from her drama “The Forest Song”. They accurately and subtly convey the inner state of every Ukrainian: “No, I am alive! I will live forever! I carry in my heart something that cannot die!”
