By combining their thoughts and different worlds, creators Rugilė Navickaitė and Nikas Vosylius decided to portray a cat on the wall – a symbol that has already become closely associated with Marijampolė. This cat symbolizes freedom, independence, and different choices. Cats are remarkable animals, able to find a connection between this world and the other. A door is a boundary: our exit or entrance. In the mural, several doors are visible: one is open, while others are closed. Behind the open door, different worlds are concealed, and a person can freely choose one of them by entering through this door or by closing it. At all times, different cultures had mediators between different spaces and various levels of understanding of the world. They were intermediaries helping to cross the assumed boundary. We invite you to experience, participate, immerse yourselves in, choose your visual and implicit worlds, interpret them, and give them new meanings. All cultural objects gain meaning during the process of their comprehension, consumption, and interpretation (Umberto 2004: 59).
