In this mural, British artist Will Teather and his team created a flock of storks. During the same expedition, the artist also created a similar composition in the city of Sheptytskyi, Ukraine. Storks are both the national bird of Lithuania and Ukraine, deeply intertwined with folklore, tradition, and cultural beliefs. They embody concepts of peace, family, home, birth and prosperity. These flocks appearing in twinned cities across both countries seemed an apt way of symbolizing hope and transnational solidarity in a challenging time for Ukraine and Europe. This design follows on from the artist’s previous mural in Cat Square some years earlier, which depicts a flock of doves.
