Kvietiškis Manor Museum

The beginning of Marijampole city starts in Kvietiskis Manor, which was built, by mayor of Prienai Morkus Antanas Butleris in 1717. This place is connected to many famous people and incidents. Some historians say that the manor was visited by marshal M. Nejus of Napaleon in 1807, which is now the same location as Marijampole Collage. The territory is huge, almost 20 hectares which holds old buildings like a warehouse of grains with a basement. The basement has its own exhibition which is called "Where Kvietiskis Manor was built".

Museum of Kazys Boruta

The Museum of Kazys Boruta opened in February 28th 1995, at a gymnasium with the same name. The exhibitions are made up from pictures which are related to Kazys Boruta’s personal and social life. One of the exhibits – is a board, which was hanging on the school wall since interwar times. Other part of exhibition is stands with pictures, which reveals different celebrations of the writers anniversaries. This museum is saving and cherishing the remembrance of Kazys Boruta. The museum is always visited by former and current students. We always welcome all the guests.

Museum of Marijampolės Rygiškių Jono Gymansium

The museum was opened in 1967, to celebrate the 100th birthday of the gymnasium. This school has more than 9500 exhibits which show the history and period from tsarist Russia to restored independence. Here you can get information about former and famous gymnasium students who were a part of the Lithuanian nation which had a huge impact in our country’s history and culture: J. Basanavičius, V. Kudirka, P. kriaučiūnas, J. Jablonskis, A. J. Greima, V. Mykolaitis-Putinas, St. Jurgis Matulaitis – these are the signatories of independence act from February 16th in 1918. The main purpose of this museum is to show the difficult and brutal side of Sūduva and Lithuanian history, to attract young people and to educate about patriotism. This museum is the heart of Marijampolės Rygiškių Jono gymnasium, loved by tourists.

Memorial museum of Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas

This museum has an exhibition called "The Life and Work of Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas". The main purpose is to portray his life style, activity and evolution of his creativity. This museum shows pictures, articles, illustrations, the ark of his mother, coffee milling machine and other personal stuff. There is also a documentary movie by Vytautas V. Landsbergis about Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas.

Museum of Rabbits

You can find 800 different types of rabbits in this museum, which is based in Sasnava. The smallest one is 1cm and the biggest is 1m. You can also get to know more about the name Sasnava and participate in fun educational programs for all different age groups. Here you can take pictures with different rabbits, bake "Honey Cake of Rabbit", make "rabbit for sleep" or other craft. You can also dance, create a story or even exercise. There is also a chance to organize different events like children’s birthdays, anniversaries, christenings etc.

Museum of Marijampolės Tauro District Dedicated for partisans And Deportees

The museum protects memories of the post war period fights and massive deportation. The fight against the Soviet Union was from 1944 to 1954. The deportation was from June 14th of 1941 to 1953. The museum holds many materials from that time: guns of partisans, letters, memories, pictures, household appliances and documents. The museum was opened in November of 1993. It was managed by former partisans' bondman and prisoner, the author of book about the partisans fight – A. Vilutienė. By the number of exhibits and information this museum stands out from other similar museums.

The museum of ancient Cars and Motorbikes “Kubilkiemis“

The collection of ancient vehicles has been gathered during a quarter of a century. It reveals the cars and motorbikes of your memories, you will find ancient things there too. The museum is unique and rich in the number of exhibits. It is located in the building of a former bakery. The museum demonstrates hundreds of ancient things: equipment, tools, household utensils. All vehicles are older than 30 years and were manufactured in the Soviet Union. The museum has such exhibits as: VAZ, Moskvič, GAZ, ZAZ, a car of a disabled person and many more. All exhibits have their own story which is told by the owner of the museum.

Memorial museum of Lithuania President Kazys Grinius

Memorial museum of Lithuania president K. Grinius is a cultural legacy building of the XIX century. The same building was the cultural heritage of the XIX century where during the period of 1904–1914 Lithuanian president K. Grinius lived with his family. In XX century this building became the house of Užnemunė cultural and political activities: it spread revival of nation, democratic provisions, language and culture. The visitors have a possibility to have a look at the expositions of the museum as well as to know plenty of interesting facts about this exceptional personality.

Etnography and Prezident Kazys Grinius museum

Marijampolė ethnography and Prezident Kazys Grinius museum is one of the oldest museums in Suvalkija. It was founded in 1933. Nowadays it is located in the building complex of former court of the end of XIX century. A visitor can see the expositions such as “The spirit of the nation“, “The city by the river Šešupė“ as well as to know the lifestyle of the locals, the history of the city of Marijampolė. One can find here both impressive and unique exhibits: the skeleton of “Turlojiškės man“ dating back to 3000 years ago, one of the biggest burying urns, a giant size court book of  XIX century, a chapel devoted to memorize the rebellion of 1863 and many other exhibits of household, written language, numismatics and textile. Exhibitions, events, active educational activities are oragnised in the museum. Besides, the catalogues of the exhibits housed in the museum are published.

Museum of blessed Jurgis Matulaitis

Museum of blessed Jurgis Matulaitis is in Marijonai monastery. The museum houses 2 expositions: “The White marijonai“, which is for getting to know the foundation of Marijampolė town as well as the beginning of the history of the monastery. The second one is called “Blessed Primate Jurgis Matulaitis“, revealing active biography of J.Matulaitis as a priest, bishop, primate, professor, monk, social activist, diplomat, his spiritual life merits.
